Welcome to Bellefonte Borough

The town features many examples of Victorian architecture. It is also home to the natural spring from which the town gets its name. The early development of Bellefonte had been as a "natural town." It started with one house and a crossroad, then iron was found and the town grew. Downtown's charming, walkable streets are ideal for shoppers, with antique shops, jewelry, boutiques and other specialty stores ruling the Victorian architecture. The Bellefonte Art Museum offers classes, rotating and permanent exhibits, as well as a wide range of youth programs, including a children’s garden.

Bellefonte is also home to the Centre County Library, Historical Museum and the American Philatelic. If you are an outdoor lover then there is no shortage of activities, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, slalom kayaking, boating, fishing, fly fishing (best in the world!) to name just a few. Several Annual events include the annual Easter egg hunt, the Bellefonte Cruise and Victorian Christmas.
