Your Attic Can Exceed 130 Degrees During Hot Days!

Did you know that during hot weather, the temperature in your attic can exceed 130 degrees on the most extreme hot days. Your attic fan plays a very important role by removing hot and humid air out of the air, allowing your HVAC system to run more efficiently during hot days.

Your attic becomes hot because the black shingles absorbs heat, which then heats the attic space that is typically insulated and have no air movement. Temperatures within your attic can exceed 130 degrees on days that have blazing sunshine and temperatures well into the 90s to near 100.

When the fan is turned on, the hot air is removed from the attic and air is pulled into the attic through the soffit vents under the eaves of your roof. You probably didn't realize that most roofs are actually open to the air outside through the soffit vents.

What Are the Benefits of Attic Fans?

1. Lower temperatures in your home by removing stale hot air out of the attic.

2. Increased energy efficiency because running your fan costs fractions compared to running your AC.

3. Extended life of your roof by eliminating the humidity that contributes to mold growth.

4. The fans acts like a backup to your air conditioner if your AC were to break down.

During hot days it's always best to run our attic fans, especially when temperatures are over 85 degrees.
