Simple Goals for 2019

Like many, the day after Christmas I start thinking about the new year. That includes major and minor tasks for the home, places I want to go in 2019, people I want to reconnect with and, of course, the obligatory weight I want to lose along with the health and wellness routine I intend to implement. Why do we set such aggressive goals for ourselves? So we can feel like we’ve really accomplished something great? We all know it’s the small daily actions that compound into bigger, longer lasting changes. The old “how do you eat an elephant?...one bite at a time” is very true. I recently ran across a great article about exactly that...simple resolutions. Here are some of my favorites. - **Never leave the grocery store without citrus in your cart.** How easy is that? - **Book all of your annual doctor’s appointment at one time.** Dedicate one hour and get those important appointments scheduled! - **Do one thing at a time.** How many times are we side tracked because we allowed ourselves to get distracted? Do one thing to completion! - **Make your home more fragrant.** I’m known to those on my team as the plug-in queen and believe me, when houses sit vacant, plug-ins are your best friend! Various smells can promote a sense of peace and tranquility...why not encourage that at home. - **Sanitize your phone.** Think about it...seriously. The phone goes everywhere with us... and I mean everywhere! We wash our hands and then pick up the germ ridden phone! - **Listen to novels when working out.** Listening to the end of the chapter may just help you get in an extra mile or two each week! - **Delegate, delegate, delegate.** Think about your tasks and ask yourself why you are the one that MUST handle it. Then think about what you would do with that extra 10 minutes! - **Wear workout gear you feel good wearing.** I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dreaded putting on a certain exercise bra that pulls or shorts that ride up. Donate them or toss them! - **Take back your lunch break.** I know, I know...the day is over and you never had time for lunch. Start with 20 minutes of sitting quietly and eating a cup of soup! - **Journal.** Take 5 minutes first thing in the morning and journal about your thoughts for the day and choose your attitude! - **Positive self talk.** This is a biggie everyone...especially for women. There are hundreds of seemingly small negative thoughts that cross through our minds every day. They are damaging and they leave a mark! Stop the negative and give yourself positive self talk every day! - **Spend five minutes keeping up on current events.** Translation...read! There’s a lot going on in the world people...be informed so you can form your own opinion and speak intelligently about it. I plan to make 2019 a record setting year for my business and it all begins with planning and the right attitude. See...mom was right all along! Wishing all of you and yours a happy New Year and a safe and joyous 2019!
