Cold Day Activities

It’s that time of year again! Say goodbye to the autumn breeze and hello to snow plows, frozen cars and icy sidewalks. The times of trick-or-treating, apple picking and pumpkin carving are over and the freezing cold months are among us but just because it’s cold, doesn't mean the fun has to end. Check out my favorite ways to spend time during the cold months.

Movie Marathons

Cuddle up with your loved ones and enjoy a movie marathon! At my house, we love choosing different movie series on snow days. We make popcorn, hot chocolate, grab our blankets and spend the day enjoying our favorite films.

Hot Chocolate Bar

My kids absolutely loved hot chocolate when they were younger. Whenever they would have a snow day, I would wake them up with a breakfast and hot chocolate bar. For breakfast, I would usually make snowman pancakes with chocolate chips and bananas. For the hot chocolate bar, I would set up premade white and milk hot chocolate for the kids to choose along with marshmallows and other treats they could put into their hot coco!

Night Sledding

Night sledding was always a family favorite. The kids loved being pulled up the mountain in their tube while we enjoyed drinks in the ski lodge.

Snowed in Date Night

Since our cars are usually blocked in during snow storms, we decided to bring date night to us! If I know a storm is coming, I’ll stop at the supermarket to grab a bottle of wine and ingredients to make a comforting dinner (crockpot recipes are great for snow days).

Read A Great Book

I absolutely love reading but I don’t have much time with the craziness of my day to day life. Snow days bring the perfect opportunity to cozy up with that book I have been dying to read and sometimes I even finish it in one day!

At Home Spa Day

Turning my home into a personal spa is one of my favorite things to do during the cold months. I always have some sheet face masks, bath bombs and my manicure kit handy so this activity takes no effort at all. Taking a bath, doing a face mask and painting my nails makes for the perfect relaxing snow day.

Baking Competition

This is great to do with friends and/or your little ones! Preheat your oven and grab your aprons because baking competitions are a fun way to get everyone involved. I will pick up cake mix, icing and decorations and turn my kitchen into a little bakery. It’s fun to do and leaves you with delicious treats.
